What is the Marsh Foundation?

EastKyMap

Founded in 2006 by Lawrence B. Marsh, a native of Eastern Kentucky and a 45  year resident of Maryland, The Marsh Foundation was created to “foster talent and innovation in Eastern Kentucky”. The Marsh Foundation is a 501©(3) non-profit corporation designed to encourage and assist the creative talent and ingenuity of those living in or having been reared in the Appalachian counties of Eastern Kentucky.

By assisting and encouraging Eastern Kentucky inventors to patent, manufacture and market their inventions in their home regions, The Marsh Foundation hopes to eventually expand the economic base and employment potential which lies potentially inherent in Appalachia and the lack of which has contributed significantly to the boom and bust of its economic history.

Similarly, by recognizing and encouraging talented classical piano students to compete against their peers for college scholarship prizes through the Dorothy G. Marsh Piano Competition, The Marsh Foundation plans to have a positive impact on the cultural future of the region’s young people and their personal goals and ambitions.
